DANCE

Compositions for MOVEMENT

BREATHE, WOMAN!

I loved working on this collaboration as composer for choreographer Shermaine Heng to create a beautiful project that explores the role of women in society, and more specifically the rich and diverse lives of migrant women in Ballarat, Victoria. Working with women from diverse cultural backgrounds in Ballarat, a contemporary dance piece that reflects their unique stories and experiences was created. Women of all ages and backgrounds have contributed to the piece in many creative ways, through individual choreography, interviews and much more.

MORPHEUS

Morpheus is a collaboration I worked on with dancer Rosie Leverton. This track was developed from the conceptual notion of dream paralysis. I wanted to convey through both sound, movement and video what it is like not being able to move while in a dream like state. I wanted to explore the idea of perception between consciousness and subconsciousness, between reality and a dream. Morpheus, being the Greek God of dreams, seemed like an appropriate title to encapsulate the nature of this piece.

ENCOUNTERS

It was exciting to have worked with such a talented group of people to make possible the exciting project that was "Encounters". As part of 2015 SummerSalt Festival, Encounters was an interactive installation with rich and exciting experiences to be had through the combination of sound, visuals, events, and dance all coming together, along with audience interaction/participation, to experience our Solar System like never before. For more information, feel free to head over to the SocialNUIwebpage, or VCA_digital Facebook and learn more about Encounters, and all the talented individuals who worked so hard to make it happen.
